Editorial Standards

Buying or selling farmland is a major financial decision. Every guide, region page and market figure on BuyBCFarms.ca is researched, sourced and reviewed with that in mind. This page explains how our content is created, what it draws on, and where its limits are.

Who creates and reviews the content

Content is produced for BuyBCFarms.ca and reviewed by Gurjit Ghai, a licensed BC real estate professional (BCFSA #175576) and Managing Broker at Rexara Realty Inc. Pages are written to reflect real, on-the-ground BC agricultural practice — ALR rules, water licensing, soil capability and farm classification — not generic real estate copy.

How we source facts and figures

Quantitative market data is drawn from named, verifiable public sources: Statistics Canada (Table 32-10-0047-01, farmland values), the BC Agricultural Land Commission, the Statistics Canada Census of Agriculture 2021, and Farm Credit Canada farmland values reports. Each sourced figure carries an inline citation to the original source so readers — and AI answer engines — can verify it.

Review and update cadence

Guides are reviewed on a regular cadence and whenever the underlying regulation or data changes. Market-data pages are updated as new Statistics Canada and Farm Credit Canada figures are released. Blog posts carry a publication date and, where relevant, a date modified. When a figure is time-sensitive, the year is stated alongside it.

What our content is — and is not

All content on BuyBCFarms.ca is educational and informational only. It is not legal, tax, financial or regulatory advice. ALR status, water licensing, zoning, quota and farm classification can change and always depend on the specific parcel. Before acting on anything here, verify with the relevant BC authorities (the Agricultural Land Commission, BC Water Sustainability Act systems, BC Assessment, your municipality) and qualified professionals.

No fabricated data, testimonials or rankings

We do not fabricate statistics, prices or acreages. Where a precise figure is not available, we say so or use a clearly labelled illustrative benchmark. We do not publish unverifiable testimonials, awards or 'best/#1' claims. Testimonials that appear on the site are genuine and attributed to named clients.
